Tourism Ministry constitutes Swadesh Darshan Awards to acknowledge efforts of states & UTs

The Tourism Ministry has asked the state governments and UT Administrations to submit their entries online. The Ministry of Tourism under its flagship scheme of ‘Swadesh Darshan’ has sanctioned 76 projects in 31 States and Union Territories of India for more than INR 5,500 crore. As part of this scheme, tourism-related infrastructure has been developed at more than 500 tourist destinations.

This year, in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman last month for FY-2022-23, the Swadesh Darshan Scheme had received the highest allocation in the Ministry of Tourism budget.

Out of the Ministry’s total allocated budget of INR 2,400 crore, the flagship scheme of MoT, under which 76 projects in 13 thematic circuits have been sanctioned received INR 1,181.30 crore, registering a growth of almost 88 per cent per cent from the last year. 55 new destinations are being planned to be developed under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.

IndiGo to operate 51 per cent of the repatriation flights under Operation Ganga by March 06

The airline will be operating 42 flights (completed + planned) bringing back over 9200 Indian citizens back to their homeland by Sunday (March 06). The airline is operating these flights with A321 aircraft. Some of these flights carried relief material on their outward journey to Budapest and Rzeszow, while bringing back evacuees on the return leg via Istanbul.

UAE has updated its travel guidelines for those from India. Those who have fully vaccinated, they will now be free from RT-PCR testing before their departure for travel to India from the UAE. Passengers are, however, advised to upload their COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued in India on the Air Suvidha portal, while others are required to carry a negative report of the COVID-19 RT-PCR test, which they have undergone 72 hours prior to their travel, and also upload it on the Air Suvidha portal.
Also, passengers will be undergoing thermal screening, and if anybody is found to be symptomatic, they will be treated as per the new guidelines.

Singapore travel guidelines

Reports have it that Singapore Airlines (SIA) has updated its guideline for those arriving from India via VTL (vaccinated travel lanes) flights. They will also have to provide their travel history for the past 7 days. Also, if they have been in Singapore in the past 7 days, their stay in Singapore will be counted in the 7-day travel history requirement.

Kuwait travel guidelines

Kuwait has also updated its travel guidelines. As per the updated guidelines, passengers with valid travel documents will be allowed to enter Kuwait irrespective of their vaccination status.

He also added that he created an igloo cafe last year as well, and claimed that it was Asia’s biggest.

The fare of Toy Train with Vistadome Coach with Joy Ride Steam Engine, which was earlier Rs 1,600, has now been reduced to Rs 1,500.

DHR administration said that the newly revised fare will be implemented from March 1. Chilvarwar also said that in order to further increase the popularity of the toy train, the DHR will organize a summer festival from March 1 to March 31. The festival will be organized at Siliguri Junction and Kurseong and Darjeeling DHR stations in the Darjeeling Hills region.

Cultural programs will be organized under this festival. The DHR authorities are going to include one AC Vistadom coach from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling. In Darjeeling to Ghoom section, all the coaches will be replaced with vistadom coaches instead of normal coaches.
