Mangalore to Mumbai Air Travel Becomes Easier

 Mumbai: In good news for flyers, Air India has started its second daily flight between the vital and much used Mumbai- Mangaluru sector.



This introduction of new daily flight comes soon after IndiGo recently announced a third daily flight on Mumbai-Mangaluru sector on May 22 taking the collective number of daily flights operated by both airlines on this sector to five.

The addition of new flight will ease the 1.5- hour air commute between the two cities. The inaugural leg of this Air India flight (1679) took off with 182 passengers and 167 passengers left for Mumbai on AI 1680 on Saturday.

Air India flight 1679 (Mumbai-Mangalore) departs from Mumbai at 12.40 pm to reach Mangaluru at 2.10 pm. On the return leg, AI 1680 leaves Mangaluru at 2.50 pm to reach Mumbai at 4.35 pm.
The other Air India flight (AI 679) leaves Mumbai at 5.45am to reach Mangalore at 7.20am. Flight AI 680 leaves Mangaluru at 7.55am and arrives in Mumbai at 9.35am.
IndiGo will operate its third daily flight to Mumbai till the end of the current summer airline schedule that ends on October 28, a Times of India report said quoting airline industry sources. As per its original plan, the low-cost carrier planned this third daily flight up to June 15, but, it has since been extended to July 31.
Mangaluru International Airport are 38 and passenger count (domestic and international) is somewhere around the 5,000-mark.
According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data, in 2022, the highest number of 4.94 lakh domestic travellers flew between Mumbai and Mangaluru which is nearly 42,000 passengers
flying every month on an average in this sector. The second busiest route is Mangaluru-Bengaluru with 4.63 lakh passengers.
